Chiaroscuro: Photo exhibition by Alison Harris in Genoa, opening June 4

Alison spent days closed up in an abandoned 19th-century theater in the seaside town of Camogli, following the light as it traced images on walls, dusty upholstery, empty dressing rooms, and haunting back-stage areas. The result is this astonishing show, which features over 20 large, mesmerizing B&W images.
Curiously, the theater, Il Teatro Sociale di Camogli, has no comic masks. All of them are tragic. An indication, perhaps, of  the character of the diamond-in-the-rough inhabitants of Camogli?
Alison's show will run from June 4 to July 4 at Galleria Il Vicolo, one of Genoa's longest-established art galleries. It's only 100 yards or so from the Ducal Palace in the atmospheric tangle of Genoa's medieval alleys. For info and to see more images, please visit Alison's website www.alisonharris.com or the gallery's website www.galleriailvicolo.it, or phone the gallery at +39 010 246 7717.
